Me oh my these art prints took some time! “They” weren’t kidding when they said to expect delays over the holidays - yikes!

Hopefully you saw my post on Instagram (or I emailed you) back on Dec 20th that the preorder prints finally arrived literally a few hours before I was leaving for my two week van life holiday travels, which of course gave me no time to unpack, gold leaf, repack, and ship all those prints.

So I apologize if you had to wait, the prints took over three times as long as usual to get to me.

However, I finally got everything gilded, signed, and shipped yesterday and today… yay! Check your email for tracking numbers and pretty please tag me on Instagram when they arrive! @caleighbirdart

'The Dreaming Witch' 3D Oil Painting Demo

I'm so excited to share my latest 3D oil, mixed media, and resin painting with you! I've been working on 'The Dreaming Witch' for months now and was finally able to ensconce her lovely ferns, petals, and gold leaf flakes in resin just last week.

This is an oil painting on linen with an aerosol background. I used dried ferns and other plants I collected in Hawai'i and Florida, as well as a cruelty-free reproduction moth, with gold leaf flakes scattered about.

I'll have this painting available as a limited edition print with hand embellished gold leaf accents in my Shop for a short time. You can grab yours here.

How I Package Print Orders

I've started packaging my prints using brown craft paper which not only gives that handmade-with-love feel, but is way more eco-friendly than most packaging, and will probably even save you money both in supplies and at the post office.

Sending print orders with lots of extras and goodies lets your customers know just how important and appreciated each and every art order truly is.

Limited Edition Mini Prints

How to Photograph Artwork

Photographing artwork is surprisingly easy and is actually best done with neutral and natural light, which I will show you how to find outside. This technique is great because you don't need any fancy equipment at all. Any high resolution digital or smart phone works wonderfully during the right time of day.

New Prints Unboxing.... Oops!

Oh boy, oh boy!! There's very little I love more than receiving bright shiny new prints in the mail!! Well... my prints actually come on watercolor rag paper, so their more of a matte, but you get the idea:)

I always like to do a color test for my prints before offering them for sale, and it's definitely a relief when they come out well the first, or even second, time. It can get pricey having to tweak over and over again!

I did have a lil 'print unboxing malfunction' but it's nothing that wasn't totally this goober's fault and I was able to remedy it soon enough. Enjoy!

New Giclee Prints Galore!!

Oooooh I am tooo love with all these gorgeous new prints I just received from my printers in the mail this past week!! I chose the thickest 290 gsm 100% cotton rag paper and they really came out looking so vibrant. And the best thing is that these paper and inks are supposed to last 100 years!

There was only one image that I had to toss because she came out looking like a zombie (blah!), which happens form time to time. Most folks don't realize that it can be tricky to get a correctly colored print, especially long distance! Computer screens vary the colors so unfortunately what you see is not always what you get.

I've been pretty fortunate so far, but any artist knows that they'll need to order at least one or two rounds of any print before selling just to be sure. It's an expensive endeavor, let me tell you!

And of course you know the first thing I did was put my special authenticity stamps on them:)

Prints 'n Stickers 'n Stamps - Oh My!

Hi Friends! Happy Full Moon weekend!

Ok, so today's share might seem a tad unremarkable to some, but realize that my excitement lies more within what these little gifts and accents symbolize rather than what they actually are (I'll explain later;) )

I can't help it, I'm just really proud to share all the little things! Like, for example these really sweet vinyl stickers I've had made twice now. How clear and bright is that image?!? Along with these postcards I got last year that I use for 'thank you' notes and I've always been in love with my teeny tiny business cards.

Plus I recently designed these super sweet stamps for authenticating my prints and giving a more polished look to my outgoing artwork parcels.

Now let me tell you why these small things are so meaningful:

All of these little bonus goodies with coherent logos and the same 'look' and branding and all that good stuff that I pack with every purchase as well as hand out to folks I meet, is exactly what you would expect a well-seasoned professional artist to bring to the table. I mean, don't get me wrong, I have been creating and showing work locally for years, but it is only within the last few months that I've actually starting culling together all the trappings of an artist who actually "knows what they're doing." Ha!

Simply having prints available is totally new for me!

I guess what I'm trying to say, dear reader, is that I am tremendously grateful that my ambitions as a career artist are starting to blossom in ways that I could have only dreamed they would. Because these are all tangible objects associated with sharing my artwork, they're meaning feels all the more real.

It's truly amazing what the smallest symbols of professionalism or achievement can mean to one artist working her very hardest to make it in this bustling world:)
